COME AND JOIN US ON OUR UPCOMING WORKSHOPS!
Hummingbird ID Workshop & TourApril 16 – April 20, 2025
The goal of this unique workshop is to provide in-depth training to hummingbird enthusiasts, citizen and community scientists, and birders on hummingbird identification in the field. Mornings will be devoted to hummingbird tours to diverse hummingbird habitats in the United States, and afternoons will include talks and presentations from hummingbird biologists with decades of training and knowledge. This workshop will provide all participants with the necessary tools to identify a large diversity of hummingbirds, create hummingbird havens, and understand a variety of hummingbird behaviors. |
Training Workshop for Hummingbird BandingAugust 24 – September 3, 2025
The goal of the workshop is to develop and improve skills needed to band hummingbirds safely. The banding techniques taught are those approved by the North American Banding Council and are consistent with the Banders’ Code of Ethics. This workshop is the first step in becoming a permitted hummingbird bander and preference will be given to those who are interested in joining HMN’s coordinated monitoring program. At the end of the workshop, participants’ skill level will vary and not all will master the skills needed to band hummingbirds safely. For those who master these skills, the next step to becoming a permitted hummingbird bander will vary and will be discussed with each person. |
